Maintenance: extend the life of your investment

InterfaceFLOR flooring is designed to be low-maintenance, and keeping it clean is a simple matter. And the modular nature of carpet tiles minimises costs in the event of an accident or incident that causes significant damage - just lift the affected tiles and replace with new ones.

Key benefits

  • Low maintenance
  • Easy to clean
  • Stain resistant
  • Simple replacement of damaged tiles

InterfaceFLOR carpet tiles are renowned for their toughness, retaining their colour and finish for years of use in all sorts of environments.

Optimising the flooring's visual performance starts with the original choice of colour and pattern. For example, areas that will be subject to heavy footfall from outside, such as reception areas, will benefit from the use of darker colours and irregular patterning, since this is less likely to show the dirt. Similarly, where heavy internal use is predictable, this factor should be taken into account when choosing a style.

To extend the floorcovering's life even further and thus enhance the overall return on investment, a simple maintenance programme of regular vacuuming should be followed. This is the most effective way to deal with everyday dust and dirt.

All InterfaceFLOR carpet tiles are manufactured using stain resistant material and fibres. But, for the inevitable spills and accidents, the area should be treated as promptly as possible.

Scrape up any solids as soon as possible, working from the edges of the spill towards the centre so that it doesn't spread.

Excess liquid can be soaked up by placing a thick wad of absorbent paper over the area and pressing firmly.

Sponge clean if required or the tiles can be lifted and rinsed under the tap. You can use a mild detergent solution and scrub gently with a brush where necessary, but it is important to remove all traces of detergent by rinsing. Use absorbent paper to mop up as much excess moisture as possible and allow to dry. If a tile is lifted for cleaning, it should not be replaced until it is dry. But it should be allowed to dry naturally, rather than placed on a radiator or other artificially hot surface, as this may damage the tile.

If individual tiles are so damaged that they cannot be cleaned, they can simply be replaced with new ones - a far less expensive and more efficient solution than would be required for wood or broadloom floorcovering which would usually require total replacement.
