Aimed at setting straight any misconceptions that might exist about carpets, modular flooring manufacturer InterfaceFLOR has published a suite of literature called Positive Thinking to answer many of the most commonly asked questions about floorcoverings, be they related to safety, wellbeing, air quality or unwanted noise.
Positive Thinking is presented as a pack containing four inserts and has relevance to many different environments; from healthcare and education to commercial office, retail, hospitality and residential settings. The pack condenses a huge body of information and will be of interest to any professional involved in the specification of floorcoverings.
Just one of the points highlighted in ‘Safer steps – reducing the risk of slip and trip injuries with modular flooring from InterfaceFLOR’ is that slips and trips represent 33% of all reported major injuries at work and cost employers £500 million a year.
‘Wellbeing – imparting a sense of comfort into your environment’, looks at such issues as aesthetics and comfort, and the positive impact these qualities can have on those using the environment in which a floorcovering is installed.
‘Space to breathe – the positive effects of good indoor air quality’ draws attention to the fact that increasing numbers of facilities managers and specifiers are rethinking their floorcovering preferences with the realisation that soft flooring, such as InterfaceFLOR modular carpet, actually helps improve indoor air quality.
For added protection and peace of mind, InterfaceFLOR offers Intersept®, a patented antimicrobial preservative which inhibits the growth of mould, mildew and bacteria. Intersept® is incorporated at the base of the carpet fibres and, assuming proper maintenance, is effective for the life of the product.
‘A sound investment – reduce unwanted noise for a tranquil environment’ is the final insert which, backed with firm evidence, explains that the ‘right’ floor covering makes a crucial contribution to sound reduction. Overall, the Positive Thinking pack demonstrates that InterfaceFLOR carpet tiles can help create a safe and comfortable environment for work and play and, most importantly, contribute to wellbeing.
Amanda Hall of InterfaceFLOR comments: “We call this the Positive Thinking pack because it is concerned with changing people’s negative perceptions of carpet tiles and soft flooring. Recent studies show that, contrary to sensationalist media reports, carpet is safe, cost-effective and suitable for just about any indoor setting.”
