Prof Dr Peter Hennicke has been President of the Wuppertal Institute since April 2003 having been granted leave from his professorship at the Bergische Universitat Wuppertal. He has served as a member in three Enquete-Commissions of the German Bundestag and was assigned to the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee of the Global Environment Facility in June 2002. The research programme of the Wuppertal Institute investigates and develops guidelines for sustainable development on a regional, national and international level.

Professor George Molenkamp is a partner at KPMG Sustainability, B.V., part of KPMG Global Sustainability Services (GSS); it approaches corporate social responsibility from a managerial perspective and advises corporations on the integration of CSR into the business functions and strategy. KPMG Sustainability also provides verification assurance of CSR annual reports and is one of the market leaders in its field.

Erich Weber has been the director of the Stiftung Arbeit und Umwelt der Industriegewerkschaft Bergbau, Chemie, Energie, the first unionised environmental foundation in Europe, since 2005. An industrial designer who graduated from ECAL, Philippe Turin began his working life as an associate member of ID5 Industrial Design in 1975. As President of the Union of French Industrial Designers in 1983, he participated in the foundation of the AMS in Paris in 1990 before setting up and running the CPPI (Conception et Promotion des Produits Industriels). Philippe Turin is also a member of AFITE and APEDEC, and a jury member of JANUS DE L'INDUSTRIE.

Attracted to aesthetics and social sciences very early on, Anne-Marie Sargueil began her career with the Institut d'Esthétique Industrielle (Institute of Industrial Aesthetics). She then joined the Raymond Loewy company, devoting herself first to publishing (environmental and social publications) and then to business (human resources). As head of the French Institute of Design since 1984, she has directed her activities towards innovation with the user in mind.
